INTRODUCTION: basic human rights

For humans, one of the worst feelings regarding the global environment is the feeling of hopelessness and not having control of the global events threatening the values of human life, democracy, freedom, Human Rights and the earth's life giving resources.  Knowing there is presently no established legal structure available to assist us with addressing these global events further compounds our feeling of hopelessness.  Fortunately, all the necessary elements needed to build a new legally structured organization to provide hope and give all of us a sense of power and control over the events threatening our lives and Human Rights are now available, already in place, and begging to be put to use.  This new means of hope deals with the instinctively understood fact that unity is the critical factor in accumulating the necessary powers to make change.

Human Rights abuses are the single common denominator emotionally affecting all people equally, and in particular links together all of the world's human rights organizations with the vast majority of all other grassroots organizations.  Currently, Human Rights abuses are treated as single isolated incidents in need of single solutions from single involved parties with little or no legal recourse.

Logic dictates it is wiser to consolidate the efforts of concerned people with Human Rights and other grassroots organizations worldwide, into one powerful, united, human driven organization working together as a force to legalize the already established but still non-binding Universal Declaration of Human Rights, elevating that declaration to become the legal entitlements for all people.

Legalizing Human Rights changes the non-binding Universal Declaration of Human Rights to a legally binding Universal Bill of Human Rights.  With legal protections for Human Rights in place, Human Rights abuses will become Human Rights crimes, giving us the much-needed legal authority to deter and legally prosecute all Human Rights criminals.

One sentence from the Preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states, " Whereas it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that Human Rights should be protected by the "Rule of Law".  Even those who drafted the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights recognized that without legal protections under a "Rule of Law" the full benefit of the Universal Declaration Human Rights would never be realized.

60 years of failure to achieve legal status for Human Rights by the governments in the United Nations shouldn't mean that issue is dead or forgotten.  It is apparent a totally new approach must be taken on this critical issue, as the global governments are neither capable nor interested in honoring the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a global policy.

The authority to bring this legalized Human Rights issue to conclusion must be assumed by us because we are responsible for influencing our governmental policies.  No governmental structure, especially democratic, can survive if it stood against the will of the people on issues designed to enhance the overall good of its citizens. Therefore, with popular support, we the people will determine what policies our governments adopt and honor.

The importance of the Human Rights and grassroots organizations worldwide cannot be underscored as they alone establish the front line of defense against all Human Rights abusers while providing an organized format where people with common concerns link together.  Combining the global organization's unselfish willingness to take a public stand anytime, anywhere against Human Rights abusers, the knowledge, experience, and leadership they provide, along with having the communications infrastructure already in place will be key elements needed to bring conclusion to our Human Rights dilemma.

This single issue promoting legalized Human Rights presents the perfect reason and opportunity for the Human Rights and grassroots organizations to unite and assume the leadership responsibility for bringing the issue of Human Rights abuses its due recognition and rightful conclusion.   What makes this a perfect issue for these organizations is the vast majority of people worldwide would naturally love to have legalized entitlement for their Human Rights, and upon learning it is now possible would stand up and demand it.

Not wishing to be seen as oblivious to, or opposed to the legalized Human Rights issue all political and religious leaders, politicians, and other public persons of note will naturally rush to be seen publicly joining the people and openly supporting this critical issue.  The embarrassment factor alone would be too much to overcome career wise if any public figure became known as being opposed to the people gaining entitlement to legalized Human Rights.

Simply asking any leader, politician, or other person of public note what side of the campaign for legalized Human Rights they supported creates a major dilemma for them if answered in a way that offends or insults the common instincts of the people or devalues human life.  Being acutely aware of the embarrassment affect this issue creates indicates the leadership of this campaign for legalizing Human Rights has the potential to generate enormous support from leaders, public officials, and institutions worldwide.

Making the change from non-binding to legalized Human Rights is a giant step forward for humanity, however, it cannot be accomplished by waiting for governments to suddenly all agree to voluntarily honor the people's Human Rights.  The traditional practice of yielding our personal Human Rights to governmental discretion forces us to become subservient to the governments we created, own, pay for, and give life to.  Gaining legal entitlement for our Human Rights will politically force the governments we own to consider all people's Human Rights, domestic and foreign, in all policy.

Human Rights already belong to the people; it's just a matter of us collectively deciding what we want to do with them.  If 6.5 billion of us determined we all wanted our Universal Declaration of Human Rights legalized we would have to pursue that issue with the knowledge no individual or group of individuals will be granted the right to legalized Human Rights until all people on earth are legally entitled to those same rights.

Generally, those who stand to gain the most from any change are the ones responsible for making that change. Since the people of this world will be the main benefactors of legalized Human Rights we must assume outright responsibility for gaining legal entitlement for our Human Rights.  Using the principles of free democratic choice gives us the right and freedom to determine if and how we want our Human Rights legalized.

Currently Human Rights are simply assumed non-binding entitlements without any enforceable legal standing, which can be abused without legal repercussion in most cases.  Legalizing Human Rights on a global level will create a New World Order where the value of all human life, including the ever important Human Right to Life, will be incorporated into all governmental, corporate, religious, and environmental policy.
